With 30 years of experience, Frontline knows how to reach communities with the gospel through tent evangelism. The tent outreach ministry requires perseverance for those involved in the rougher living conditions, as they travel and live in trailers and tents, and commonly reach out to very rural, out-of-the-way locations. In January an outreach was conducted in the small town of Delores, Quezon. There were no facilities at the location where the team camped, so they had to bathe and do their laundry in a nearby river!
But the labors and sacrifice have always been fruitful and rewarding, and each outreach has unique and special memories. One evening at the Delores outreach a friend from college accompanied Rhoda Pessina to hear her sing a solo. At the end of the service her friend unexpectedly responded and committed her life to Christ! There were lots of tears from both of them, always a wonderful sight at a tent meeting.
In February, at Barangay Santa Maria, the first two days of meetings had low attendance and the local kids were running around being noisy and unruly. So the evangelism leader, Ernesto, told the team to fast and pray for the next two days, and there was a definite improvement. One evening alone, we saw 100 people respond to the altar call in that remote village!
For many months Frontline had been requested to come and do evangelistic meetings in Mulanay, Quezon. Before accepting, the pastors were challenged to better organize and make this an event involving all local churches for a greater and more sustainable impact. They responded by doing so and currently a team of about twenty workers are involved in a one month outreach there. The team had to bathe in a well in one location and many of them were experiencing itching from an unknown source for several days; again, part of the perseverance required for impacting the lives of hundreds of people in very poor rural areas.
